As part of an ecumenical leadership course Tanya Richards recently visited areas hit by the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004, stayed with a Muslim family and experienced first-hand the fear of another such event happening in the same place.

Tanya is Project Officer for Christian World Service in Queensland Churches Together. Her trip gave her insights into the significance of churches working together in areas of disasters and conflicts - projects such as those supported by the Christmas Bowl appeal and Partners4Peace.

By the way: the 72 Sri Lankans who were recently recognised as refugees are still on Nauru while the Federal Government tries to find another country to re-settle them.  If you would like to sign an electronic petition to the Immigration Minister calling for their immediate release and re-settlement in Australia, click here.
