“In 2012, the Alternatives to Violence Project has been operating in Queensland for 20 years. The AVP philosophy is grounded in the work of Gandhi and Martin Luther King and Alternatives to Violence Projects (AVP) can be found in all States and Territories of Australia, and in over 50 countries around the world.
AVP Queensland offers two-day experiential weekend workshops that include:
- Self esteem
- Community building
- Nonviolent relationships
- Prevention of domestic violence
- Conflict management
- Conflict transformation
- Communication
and other topics depending on workshop participant choices.
As an international not-for-profit association of volunteers, AVP has neither religious nor political affiliations. It draws its participants and facilitators from all cultures, faiths and walks of life.
The Alternatives to Violence Project Qld is always interested in meeting people who want to be a part of the movement towards nonviolence. We provide low-cost experiential training where you work towards the nonviolent resolution of conflict and practise co-facilitating other people’s learning. You do not need to bring specific experience or qualifications to this work, but an interest in, and openness to, self-development and working in teams is essential.
