NSWEC Youth Pilgrimage sets off this weekend
A group of young people (20-35 years) from the NSW Ecumenical Council are setting off this weekend to attend the Taize international gathering in Manila in the Philippines. This will take place between 3-7 February 2010, preceded by a local immersion with Christian communities elsewhere in the Philippines. It will be a wonderful occasion for young people of all backgrounds to share in one of the major youth experiences in our region in the next year.
The 2010 meeting in the Phillippines will be the fifth of its kind in Asia, the most recent of which was held in 2006 in Kolkata, India. The theme of the meeting is “INNER LIFE AND HUMAN SOLIDARITY” indicating the way that pilgrims will share together in prayer with other young people from all parts of the globe.
“Like other young people, we too have dreams and struggles. And we want to search for the truth to be found in living in the spirit of Christ. The pilgrimage of trust will give us a boost. It will help us to deepen our faith and our commitment to live in comm___UNION___, in the church and in society. On this journey we would like to share with you our life, our joys and our hopes. We wish to share our faith with you and then open new paths of hope together” (Arjene, Phillippines)
