The following message is from NATSIEC (National Aboriginal and Torres STrait Islander Ecumenical Council) to all who may be interested in the Christ and Culture Conference in Ballina in February:

Dear Friends,
 
Happy New Year! Now that we are all focusing on the year ahead, I just want to remind those of you that have not yet registered that the NATSIEC Christ and Culture Conference: Christ Through Culture is fast approaching. 
 
Dates: 16th – 20th February 2009 
Venue: Ballina Beach Resort, Ballina, NSW
 
We are looking forward to a rich and enlivening few days together. Some features of this conference are:
 
Keynote Speakers
 

  • Renowned Indigenous Theologians, Wati Longchar and Limala Longkumer from North East India
  • Well known Australian Indigenous Theologian Evelyn Parkin


 
Program
 

  • Input from several well regarded thinkers and facilitators from around Australia   
  • Less formal papers, more time for discussion and interaction with other participants
  • Celebrating what Indigenous Theology is now and exploring ways to develop thinking and practice into the future
  • Sharing our stories and experience of Christ Through Culture in our day to day ministries
  • Developing a Conference Statement to take to the Edinburgh Mission Conference in 2010
     


Venue
 
Ballina is in Bundjalung country and the conference center’s close proximity to the beach and lovely coastal walks offers a chance to experience the beauty of the Far North Coast of NSW.
 
The registration closing date is fast approaching so don’t delay and get your registration in asap. Registrations close on Wednesday February 4th.

Because many of you, like us, have only just returned from your Christmas break we will extend the early bird rate for another week. Therefore, you can register for $690 until 5pm Tuesday 27th January – you get a bonus day because of the Australia Day long weekend!
