"A good evening with lots of energy and enthusiasm" is how Sr Helen Mary Peters of the Catholic Diocese of Townsville describes the ecumenical service held there on 11 May for the centenary of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
On Palm Sunday 2008 church people in Mount Isa again marched along the streets of the town proclaiming peace. This is an annual event.
The march culminated in a gathering at which the outgoing mayor spoke. Those who gathered heard about the contributions of people who have made a difference to world peace. After each contribution all replied Thanks Be To God.

On Easter morning 2007, people from a number of different church denominations in Mackay rose before dawn to celebrate the resurrection together as the sun came up, in an ecumenical service held at Lamberts Beach Lookout.
After the service they shared breakfast, with fish supplied by the Salvation Army.
