State and National ecumenical organizations in Australia

QCT is a state-based ecumenical body. Its members are churches at state level, and for some churches the regional bodies (dioceses) within Queensland.

In other states there are similar ecumenical bodies.

Although each of these bodies is independent, with its own membership, all of them work closely together, since they all share the same aims. The executive officers of the various councils meet once a year and conduct regular teleconferences. The states form the support base for national programmes such as the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and act for peace (Christmas Bowl).

These are:

Tasmanian Council of Churches (TCC)

The Northern Territory also has a small ecumenical council, the Northern Territory Council of Churches (no independent website).

New South Wales Ecumenical Council

(NSWEC) - which incorporates churches working together in the Australian Capital Territory, ACT

National Council of Churches in Australia

At national level, seventeen churches are members of the National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA).
