The tradition of prayer breakfasts is not one that a lot of churches share. Indeed to some the thought of combining breakfast with prayer might seem indigestible.
Together with QCT itself, quite a few member churches of QCT are represented on the Steering Committee of the Lord Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, which is hosted annually by the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Campbell Newman. On 7th May Rev. Prof. James Haire, Director of the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, an experienced specialist in interfaith dialogue and a great ecumenical leader, spoke at the 2009 Breakfast. His thoughts on the purpose of the church spoke deeply to the nearly 300 people present. You can read some of his thoughts below.

Please come to our service on Tuesday, 26th May for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and Reconciliation! You can download a flyer here. Together on 26 May, let’s celebrate, think and pray and talk about the purpose of the church – with people of many denominations and communities.
